Danny Kinda’s Crossroads Blog #3
It’s almost impossible to blog in peace at this place. Like I said Saturday, there’s a million people running around and just when I sit down behind our t-shirt booth to type type type there’s like 20 girls in kneepads and bandannys singing the Volleyball Alphabet Song. Don’t get me wrong. I love that song. But I have work to do and it’s not like I can just IGNORE my favorite song when a bunch of SpikeTown Deputies are serenading me, right??
So The Kinda Good Crew and I finally got to play against one of our favorite teams when the tournament ended. We crushed them. They were from Chicago and they had to play barefoot because apparently Uggs are dumb and not made for shuffle-stepping (among other things). I can’t remember their team name but I bet it had the word “Chicago” in it (NOTE: If this is your team, please email me and remind me who you were. Sorry for forgetting). AJ blocked them all 8 times each and Billy kept asking for super-tight sets and kaboom-ing them straight down, which was fine by me because I had already taken these kids to SpikeTown during my Opening Ceremonies on Friday.
F is for the Flying Cowboy/Cowgirl. There were a lot of girls doing layup-hits this weekend. I think some people call those “slides” and “back slides”? All I know is that they’re like one-footed-jump-volleyball-layup-alley-oops. Some people used to call the one-footed jump the Texas Takeoff but it’s actually called the FLYING COWBOY. Duh. You’re supposed to shout YEEHAW! while you’re in the air, but I only heard it from a few girls. Note to all coaches: If your players are not yelling then they’re not doing it right. FIX THIS ISSUE.

The Crossroads Boot
Let’s talk about Kay Rogness, the director of the Colorado Crossroads Qualifier, o-“kay”? She is the best. She let me play musical chairs with players all day, which I dominated at. But Kay is so awesome that she may have been the only person in the whole million attending who could maybe have beaten me. Maybe we’ll find out next week? MAYBE?? I hope so. I hadn’t participated in competitive-sitting in quite a while, but my rusty-ness wore off rather quickly. Did I mention that Kay let the Kinda Good Crew line-judge with gigantic orange flags? Yeah, we did that in an exhibition match.
This week in Denver was a great time and on behalf of the entire Kinda Good Crew, we’d like to say THANKS and SEE YOU NEXT WEEK!
